Professional Development
SUNY OER Services offers a variety of Professional Development Opportunities:
- The SUNY OER Summit – a virtual summit offered each October bringing together faculty, librarians, instructional designers, students, administrators, technologists, and open education advocates from across SUNY and beyond.
- OLI Learning Engineering Fellowship – a six-week program tailored for learning designers eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in learning engineering, including data-driven design, assessments, and evidence-based improvements. Information will be provided each time the program is offered.
- Lumen Circles – A 9‑week, no‑cost (for SUNY) professional development fellowship and learning community where instructors collaborate in learning circles to explore evidence‑based teaching practices, reflect on their own instruction, and strengthen their teaching skills. Offered throughout fall, spring, and summer semesters each year.
- AI for Learning Program – A self-paced, educator-designed course that helps faculty practically integrate AI into teaching through hands‑on activities and real classroom applications. Covers AI capabilities, limitations, ethics, privacy, and policy, while building skills in prompt engineering and custom chatbot use aligned with curriculum and assessment.
