Technical Writing

Technical Writing teaches the organization, development, and refinement of technical communications, with an emphasis on business context and practical application. Students learn about the importance of audience-centered communication, language and tone, and the mechanics and formats of standard business communication (e.g., websites, letters, memos, reports, and presentations).

This course was developed by Elizabeth Lohman of Tidewater Community College and includes material from Professional and Technical Writing, Writing Commons, and Joe Schall’s Style for Students.

Technical Writing is available as a Candela course.

  • Candela: Lumen Learning’s legacy Candela courses provide curated and outcome-aligned open educational resources (OER) in a convenient e-book format.

This course is available at no cost to SUNY students.
